DISR construction technique applied to previously cement treated base in Gauteng and crushed stone base in Western Cape. Treatment options: 1. Gauteng - foamed + emulsified bitumen. 2. Western Cape - foamed bitumen. |
Establish appropriate material "strength" criteria resulting in a material classification system. Determine mechanical properties and structural performance of stabilized construction materials. HVS tests 409A4 to 412A4, and 415A5 to 418A5 and 425A5 |
An initial material classification system. Calibration of an initial set of mechanistic empirical design models for foamed and emulsion treated material. Site specific bearing capacity estimates. A comprehensive set of engineering, mechanical and durability properties of specific materials investigated. |
